Northwest Coast and Alaska by Edward S. Curtis- In 1895 Edward Curtis became interested in the Native Americans living in and around Seattle and began to photograph them. He later traveled to British Columbia and Alaska to continue his study of the Northwest Coast Indian tribes.
California and Great Basin - In the summer of 1922 Edward Curtis and his daughter began an adventurous journey by car that crisscrossed the coastal mountains of Northern California and Southern Oregon. During the following two summers he continued his journey southward photographing the First Nation tribes of California.
Plains and Plateau photographs by Edward Curtis - Edward Sheriff Curtis traveled extensively throughout the Great Plains and Plateau regions of the United States taking thousands of photos. During this time he photographed some of the best-known Native Americans in history including the Sioux Sub-chief Red Hawk and the Nez Perce Chief Joseph.
